Europe’s first intelligent city to be constructed in Spain
The first intelligent city in Europe is set to open in Spain in 2023. This sustainable project called Elysium City will be built from scratch and powered by solar energy. Designed as a residential and tourist destination, the city will offer its residents and tourists its own high-speed train station, Disney-style theme park, a 40,000-seat football stadium, several resorts and other entertainment facilities. The first smart city in Europe has been planned and designed according to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
The smart city will be located in Castilblanco which is in the province of Extremadura. It is planned that by 2023 the city will include up to 2000 residential units, four hotels with casinos, Disney-style theme park, a water park, 18-hole golf course and other city services. The surrounding landscape will be transformed into bike paths and a marina will be built in the Garcia Sola reservoir. By 2028, the city will see more luxury hotels as well an equestrian centre and a Formula One race track.
