Andalusia cancels construction limits
The Supreme Court of Spain canceled the veto on construction works along the coastline which was put by the Council of Andalusia. Now you can build a house in 100 meters from the coastline. This court decision made it impossible to implement the plan of the local government to protect the coastline area. This plan included a veto on any construction works within 500 meters from the shoreline.
The court decision covers 62 municipalities which were included into the coastline protection plan earlier. Now you can build any type of housing but not closer than 100 meters from the shoreline as it is said in the current Shoreline Law.
The adopted by the Council of Andalusia protection plan resulted in the loss of income items and a considerable number of working places in the local construction market.
The court delivered the verdict after considering complaints from two development companies, which experienced losses as they had to freeze several housing projects in the Costa Del Sol.
