Province of Alicante

Alicante is the most popular province of the Valencia region among tourists and investors. Near the administrative center of the same name - the city of Alicante, there is an international airport, which ranks 4th in Spain in terms of the number of passengers served, second only to Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. And the famous Costa Blanca with the resorts of Benidorm, Denia and Torrevieja are known far beyond the borders of Spain.

The province is located in the eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula, in the best climatic zone of the Mediterranean. And these are not empty words! The uniqueness of the climate has been recognized by the World Health Organization and is considered one of the best regions for human habitation. A climate monument was even erected on the coast of the province in 1982.

Alicante has a dry Mediterranean climate with an average annual temperature of 18 degrees. In winter, the temperature is 10-15 degrees, in summer - an average of 26 degrees and almost never exceeds 40 degrees. The rainiest seasons are spring and autumn, the rainiest months are September and October.

The landscape of the province is very diverse: here you can find wonderful beaches with cozy bays and rather high mountains, with gorges, ravines, waterfalls, beautiful forests and salt marshes, valleys and sand dunes. The coast of Alicante is called the Costa Blanca, which in Spanish means “white coast”. The coast got this name, thanks to the white cliffs bordering the coastal zone. These cliffs serve as a natural barrier that protects the Costa Blanca resorts from northerly winds, making the climate more comfortable.

Alicante is home to almost two million people, making it the 5th most populous Spanish province. Here you can most often hear Spanish and Valencian dialect of Catalan.

The rich history of the development of the province goes back more than one century. BC on the territory of Alekante there were colonies and trade routes of the Iberians, Phoenicians, Greeks. The first naval bases appeared under the rule of Carthage and passed to the Romans, Byzantines, Visigoths. This was followed by a period of Arab rule by the Moors. In the 12th century, the territory was conquered and passed to the control of the united kingdoms of Castile and Leon, and then to the king of Valencia. Each period left its mark on the formation of the image, culture, traditions, cuisine of the province.

The province has excellent transport links. There is an international airport 10 km from the administrative center - the city of Alicante. In addition to the developed air transport, Alicante has a large seaport, from where it connects with the Balearic Islands and Algeria.

The port is rightfully considered one of the main ports in Spain for cruises. The province is connected with other cities in Spain by a developed network of railways and highways. In the city of Alicante itself, in addition to buses, there is a high-speed tram line, which allows you to move around the city quickly and without traffic jams.
