Spain leads the TOP countries with the cleanest beaches

Spain is again on the top of the list of the countries with the cleanest beaches. In 2019 566 Spanish beaches received the Blue Flag. This award is given if a beach meets the requirements on how clean the water is, infrastructure development, environmental standards and etc. There are 135 Blue flag beaches located in Valencia. Other awarded 97 beaches are located in Catalonia and 79 – in Andalucía. The Balearic and Canary Islands host 44 and 43 Blue Flag beaches respectively.

Spain is followed by Greece. This country has 515 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag. The cleanest spots are in Halkidiki, Rhodos, Crete, and Corfu.

The third country with the best and cleanest beaches is Turkey with its 463 Blue Flag beaches.

The TOP 5 also includes France and Italy with their 389 and 385 Blue Flag beaches respectively.
